Dear Colleagues:

All right! You are leading the way at Los Angeles Mission College! Good for
you!

As requested by David Jordan on your behalf, your spring site(s) are now
installed.

You will see one extra tab when you log on. Depending on how many course
sites you have, your SP07 site may not be visible; it may be over at the
"More..." drop-down menu.

If you want to change the ORDER of your course tabs, go to MyWorkspace >>
Preferences >> Customize tabs. If you taught in ETUDES-NG before and you
don't want your students to access your materials, please 'unpublish' the
old term sites. You can make sites invisible, again, through the Preferences
>> >> Customize tabs menu.

  • To populate your new sites with content from a DEV or previous ETUDES-NG
site that you own, see instructions BELOW this message. Detailed
instructions with screen shots are also available in Mod. 15 in the Users
Group site.

  • Your live course sites are now ready to be populated with rosters, once
your district IT begins importation.

Finally, refer to your distance learning website for student login
information.

If you have difficulties logging on, contact me. For other issues, use the
forums in the Users Group site.

Best,
Vivie

IMPORTING CONTENT FROM ONE SITE TO ANOTHER

1) Click on the TAB of your new site.
2) Click on Site Info.
3) Click on 'Import from Site' (far right)
4) Choose the site from where you want to import content
5) Choose materials that you want to import (announcements, resources, etc.)
5) Finish the process to complete the importation.

Go to your new site to set dates for the new term and make whatever
adjustments you need.

Assignments and announcements are imported "as draft" (shown in red). You
can 'revise' them, adjust dates, and re-post them to make them visible to
students. If you import announcements from a previous site, and you don't
want them, check the remove button on the far right, and click on 'update'
(bottom) to remove it from your site.

NOTES:

  • Tests and Modules are not imported through the 'import from site' process.
Export your exams, as you need to administer them through the term, on your
desktop, and then import the ones you want into your new term site. Students
don't see unpublished or closed exams, so it is not necessary to publish all
of them in advance.

  • Likewise, use the export/import feature of the Modules tool to port your
lessons over. This is a two clicks process. Go to Modules of your original
site >> Manage >> Export the content in a zip file on your desktop. Then, go
to your new site, click on Modules >> Manage >> Import the zip file from
your desktop onto your new site. If your modules zip file is too large and
you cannot import it, please wait for December 28, as the new version of
Melete will let you upload IMS CP Zip files up to 50MB.

  • There is no import/export functionality for discussion topics yet. It will
be available prior to the next term.
